Bayanjargal BYAMBASAIKHAN
is a business executive specialized in energy, infrastructure and mining investment and financing. He has managed large mining, energy and infrastructure projects through engaging with governments at the most senior levels, and influencing strategic direction in the leadership of public and private sectors. He has closed several of Asia’s landmark project finance transactions and deals with international banks, ECAs and carbon funds. Byambasaikhan appreciates delicate cross-cultural communications with governments and businesses. Byambasaikhan now is the CEO of NovaTerra LLC, an investment and project management firm, he co-founded in 2013. He led successful structured off-take and financing for constructing Mongolia’s largest copper cathode plant in 2014. In 2015, NovaTerra closed a banking equity transaction that led to National Bank of Canada’s investment in a Mongolian commercial bank. From February 2015 to September 2016, Byambasaikhan was the CEO of Erdenes Mongol, Mongolia's sovereign wealth management company where he chaired multiple mining company boards and was a board director of Oyu Tolgoi LLC, a world-class copper and gold mine managed by Rio Tinto. |
J. Peter MORROW [1947-2016]
was a commercial banker and financial consultant with more than 40 years of experience. For the last thirteen years, he has lived and worked in Mongolia as a banker, adviser and investor. He served as Chair, American University of Mongolia; Chairman, Investment Committee, Mongolian Development Fund; Chairman, Director, Asia-Pacific Investment Partners; Founding Chairman, Business Council of Mongolia; Vice Chair, Arts Council of Mongolia; and on various other corporate and NGO boards. Pete was the CEO of Khan Bank from 2000 to 2010, initially leading a World Bank and USAID project team to restructure the bank. After privatization in 2003 Khan Bank grew into the largest and most profitable bank in Mongolia, serving 80% of households with over 500 offices. He also served as an Independent Director of the Mongolian Stock Exchange, the Development Bank of Mongolia, Newcom Group and Eznis Airways. |
Gal NEMUUN
is a lawyer who trained and practiced both in Mongolia and in the United States. He is experienced in corporate and project finance deal structuring. From 2010 to 2013, Nemuun was general counsel at Newcom, in charge of all legal matters including corporate, regulatory compliance and general contracts, as well as board affairs. While with Newcom, he led the legal structuring and execution of various deals, including a US$40 million corporate debt financing with IFC and the equity and debt transactions for the US$120 million Salkhit wind farm. |
Chadraaval BURMAA
has extensive experience in project finance and project management in Mongolia. From 2011-2013, Burmaa was responsible for overseeing the development and construction, project financing and financial management, contract negotiation, and stakeholder management for the 50MW Salkhit Wind Farm - Mongolia's first commercial-scale wind power project. From 2006-2010, Burmaa managed human resources at the World Bank’s office in Mongolia. From 2005-2006, Burmaa was the Project Leader for Winsway Group Holdings, where she managed the company’s strategic investment into Mongolia and establishment of its businesses. |
