The project

The idea

Mongolia sits on renewable resources far larger than it can consume, next to three of the world’s biggest electricity markets. Interconnection turns that geography into an export industry — but only if the technical, economic and political cases are made together.

The work

The masterplan was delivered under ADB technical assistance with EDF and presented to the highest political leadership of the countries involved. It remains a reference point for the Asian Super Grid discussion.
